Jamie Kamendy was named Senior Female Athlete of Year and Tyler Thompson Senior Male Athlete of the Year at Denis Morris Catholic High School.
Kamendy is a Grade 11 student who played basketball, volleyball and was part of the Reds’ girls soccer team which placed fourth at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) A/AA championships.

The Denis Morris Reds boys field lacrosse team came one win shy of an undefeated season and an Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations A/AA gold medal Tuesday.
The second-seeded Reds defeated Aldershot 21-2 and St. Mary’s 16-4 Monday before advancing to the gold medal match with a 12-4 victory over the defending OFSAA silver medalist Governor Simcoe Redcoats in the semifinals Tuesday. In the final, Denis Morris fell 9-3 to McKinnon Park

Denis Morris’ Shanelle Burcher and Rheagan Hamm were on the same weary page at the start of the senior women’s 63-kilogram lightweight double Sunday at the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association championships.
“In the first 500, we were had an overwhelming feeling of fatigue but then it was ‘OK, this is the last race of the season. We have to go,’ ” said Hamm, after the race. “There’s nothing you can do about it. You just have to go and she (Burcher) agreed.”

The Denis Morris Reds boys field lacrosse team successfully completed their first step en route to their ultimate goal after knocking off the Holy Cross Raiders 9-2 to capture the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association title.
The Reds set a goal for themselves early on, which was to capture the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) AA championship. In order to do so, they need to win three titles in just over two weeks.
